OT USPS question

Sent a item out Aug 5th and on Aug 7th and tracking showed We attempted to deliver your item at 12:03 pm on August 7, 2014 in LIVINGSTON, NJ and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available. No further information is available for this item. Well it has sat at the post office forever well since the 7th according to tracking and it did say after 15 days it will return to sender if no one picks up the item now my question is why does it state "No further information is available for this item" now ? I am kinda getting worried since I Googled the persons name and it pops up with thislink btw yes I did insure the item yet I have yet to hear from my buyer wondering where his package is ? Maybe he already got it and it doesnt show on tracking?

Was there much value? This situation is rather extreme for USPS. Good luck to you and your buyer.

Once a notice is left, they may not try delivering again (some, like Registered or Express, they'll leave a second and/or third notice before returning). So at this point, until the package is picked up at the PO, the USPS has nothing else to say--ie, no updates since the notice was left. Rather than wait for the buyer to ask where it is, perhaps a note saying it is waiting for him is a good idea. If he didn't get the notice left card or simply missed it, he might not be aware the package is waiting for him.

$1400 bucks is what it was insured for and its worth about that
I have not heard from my buyer but I do have the money and have yet to hear from the buyer and I have been tracking the package and just last night the wording changed to "No further information is available for this item".
I thought the item was going to get mailed back to me since no one signed for the package and after looking up the guys name which Im not 100% certain its him in the article he does have the same first and last name and the same city/state/zip code

Use the tracking number and call the local destination PO to see if it is still there.

For whatever reason, when registered packages are delivered to my house, it ALWAYS comes up "We attempted to deliver your item ...blah blah blah... and a notice was left ... etc"

I have NO IDEA why this happens, maybe because the package requires my signature and someone else is at home and accepts them. The postman knows my family so I am not worried about this, but the tracking situation is strange. I suspect my postman enters something incorrectly when he delivers.

I always send off an email to the seller and let them know I got the package.

Creepy pic. Maybe he's in jail? If you post his ID I would love to block him since he's a scammer of the highest order.

I can't say for sure that's the same guy but it's the same name and city and state... I haven't had an issue with the buyer and he does have excellent feedback since 2007 with recent feedback but the most recent was with me and another buy on same day and after that no buying or selling activity since aug 5th

Whenever I get a tracking message like this, I contact the buyer post-haste and let him know the item is waiting for him. If it doesn't show delivered within a couple days after that, I contact the buyer again.

On vacation? Could well have entered a "hold" with the post office so the package is being held instead of returned.

I had one of those awhile back. It was sent insured with signature. It was a $4K item. The buyer in fact already had the package, and several others from other sellers without signing for them. The buyer did not respond to any messages, yet when contacted on his seller account wherein he claimed in his seller store writeup to be a disciple of Jesus and I asked a question about an item he had for sale he responded immediately.

I googled this clown, got his phone number, called him up and he said isn't it a shame when you pay for a service like signature required and they don't follow through. He then told me if he made a claim, he'd keep the coins and they'd take my money and there would be nothing I could do about it.

I convinced him that would not be a wise decision on his part and things did work out.

some buyers will have a change of heart and see this as the easiest way to get out of the purchase. Other buyers never get the PO notice, especially if was left somewhere other than the mailbox. Good news is you will get your coin back. Let buyer know a notice was left and with the tracking number and his drivers license he can pick it up at the PO.

I take the DC numbers to the PO I mailed the package from and ask them to check on it. They see things the mailer doesn't see. The package was probably delivered days ago. If not, ask your PO for the number to call so you can check at the destination PO, or if they will make the call.

You can find the number yourself. At USPS.com go to find locations and enter the zip code of the PO you wish to contact. Click on the city name and it will give you a menu with address, phone and phax number!
