<< <i>If you were looking to do a run of cellos all with the same star on top, who'd it be? Ex. Ryan, Rose, or ??? >>
I'd say Mike Schmidt, but I have seen too many high-quality (faked) cellos with stars on top to go far down this endeavour-
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
After I hit a home run I had a habit of running the bases with my head down. I figured the pitcher already felt bad enough without me showing him up rounding the bases. Mickey Mantle
I would think you would have to pick a major star. Palmer, Jenkins, etc... wouldn't have many packs left with them on top, especially once you get into the 80's. Rose was my first instinct.
If you're serious about this, you might want to try for racks instead of cellos... or at least settle for on back too. Some cards [should] never appear on the front of cello.
I haven't been looking for specific players, but players that have the "All Star" designation on their card. Those were always my favorites as a kid. Especially the more obscure players. I got a 1979 rack with Rick Monday on top from BBCE at the National.
If anyone has a 79 rack or cello with Don Money on top, I'd love to see it.
Or my Holy Grail - a 77 rack or cello with Mark Fidrych on top.
I'ved toyed with the idea of looking to pick up cellos with Willie McCovey on top. I would especially like to find 78 and 79 cellos with McCovey on top. He was one of my grandfather's favorite players and I in turn have always had a soft spot for Willie Mac.

That is what has me nervous before starting such an endeavor. I would only consider PSA though.
