Anyone knowledgeable on vintage baseball pennants?

Hi!

I have had this Pittsburgh Pirates pennant probably 30 years now...was wondering about the era it came from, where it would have been purchased originally, etc. It isn't in the best of shape but I thought the graphics were really cool.

Thanks!

    Hey Mike

I don't think there's ever been a dedicated pennant collector on CU?

I woud consider asking that over at the memorabilia forum of Net54.

I believe there is someone on Net54 who actually put out a book on vintage pennants.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

Here's a couple of similar pennants on ebay. One seller says his is from the 1940s.

I remember seeing a neat phantom 1949 American League Champion Red Sox pennant (the Red Sox needed only one win out of the final two games against the Yankees but they lost both and New York captured the flag instead) I would've loved to have gotten my wife but it was a bit too rich for my blood. image

Here it is; pretty neat isn't it?
