Hopefully bodes well for the first batch as all subsequent coins will not be fs eligible.

    Good catch.
I'm smiling a little cuz my prediction of mid October to the first week of November for the 4 coin set to be released is confirmed. The first bigbtest for the updated order system. Fingres crossed that they have done lots of beta testing.

40,000 first strike eligible coins is a lot

I hope they realize they can't dribble them out. I'm 99.9999% sure they do.

Also, saying "up to 75,000 by Oct 1" reads like there are production runs and the number made will hit 75,000 by Oct 1.

Very true - it is a lot. Still not sure what to do when my give arrive: grade, sell sealed or kerp one and return rest.

IMO 75000 is absolute max....just getting the feeling by the way these news releases read
Also lack of planchets, boxes, etc. my guess is they mint 6000 batch increments
As they need them up to 75000
They will be busy with silver sets after that

Many people will keep these raw and also deduct the show coins and first day issue coins

and I estimate less than 20,000 will be submitted for first strike / early release.

Still a large number but hard to predict demand

that's why I said "eligible." how many UHRs were FS eligible? They sold over 100k, but I don't think they shipped 40k in the first month. The mint shipped a small amount then stopped shipping for a brief time before resuming. plus it was 1 per back then, right?

If I can ever make a 70FS myself, I hope to find end collectors to take leftovers (69's) for costs who won't flip them.

I was glad to get an early ship date because of the FS thing but when I saw the number of eligible coins I cancelled my 4 coin order. I don't know why I was surprised...they said they had 40,000 ready to go.

...and...if the numbers do hit 75k by October 1st that wouldn't necessarily mean the stoppage of production....although 75k is kinda out there

    Edited to add:

After actually reading the entire article image there was a confirmation that this was not necessarily the final number:

<< <i>The United States Mint indicated that they have all of the necessary raw materials to initially produce up to 75,000 of the gold half dollars. The Mint will continue to procure additional raw materials in order to fulfill all demand for the product.

I'm going to get in line now to get the 1st coin sold from the 2nd batch, then get it PCGS certified, then get it CAC certified, then retire to the Cayman Islands.

Wow...those numbers knock me off the party wagon...especially without any indication they'll stop after 75k. Sounds like I'll try to buy them at spot once (if) gold tanks and get 'em much cheaper. Patience, I guess...

Probably a crystal ball preview of the silver sets too...they're gonna make so many that they'll be great for collectors but not so for flippers (at least not at the mass level).

the future looks bright for a continuous flow of these post first ship day. Quite the 5 star service they have now and a definite change from the HOF issues, huh?

Its amazing how eerily similar comments like the above were made during the 2009 UHR release.

History has told us with the UHR, you'll be waiting an awful long time waiting to buy it at spot.

This is what they are saying they can hit, if warranted, and sales demand dictates they strike to 75,000. Can they go above 75,000 - sure.

They have told us their capacity is about 6000 per week. We know they have ordered boxes/packing materials and can ready planchets for as much as 75,000 by Oct 1.

IMO, they will mint 6000 a week up to the sales demand they have, and possibly a little short of that due to any cancellation. Im thinking they mint another 20,000 to get to the 60,000 number and wait and see.
