The cert checks out, but there's just something weird about the font used on the insert. Plus, the coin is an obviously cleaned POS. Perhaps I am mistaken, though.
. i don't recall seeing a counterfeit pcgs holder/insert w/o a barcode or numbers above it. someone would be welcome to post one if they have an image(s). .

No, you're not mistaken. That coin is a cleaned POS and if it's not a fake holder or one that has been cracked open and resealed, then it must have taken numerous attempts to get that holdered with a grade. Even with the AU details that shouldn't have been netted down to a 45.
It's laughable that the seller is comparing fairly original coins to this cleaned one. This coin would be right at home in a "salt water effect" collection. This seller seeks out coins that have no strong reason to be submitted for grading.....hence somewhat low pops compared to key dates that are routinely submitted. They use this bogus argument to ask "all the money" for their "low pop" rarity. I can't believe that coin is in a graded holder.
If you check the cert, this coin sold at Heritage on 8/18/13 for $329. The pictures on Heritage website match the pictures on the auction. It looks like he took Heritage's pictures for his listing.
