What is this coin?

This coin was gifted to my son. I have looked it up but can not find any info on it. It is tiny. Gold in color.
Obverse has liberty head, I believe. Above the head it reads e. Pluribus unim. Under the head it it dated 1873 or 1878.
Reverse has an eagle and reads United States of America one dollar. It might also say in god we trust.
And... I forgot how to attach a picture..

Protection act of 1973, and these should have the word copy appearing on them.

<< <i>Okay. So you can read a possible date and some legends and the denomination. What is the diameter ? What does it weigh in grams ? >>
I can't seem to locate my ruler. It is a little larger than the eraser at the end of a pencil.
