Is this guy disillusioned or just a scam?

Here is a classic example of why I don't buy/sell on Ebay at all anymore.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251589305896
I message this guy long ago and explained these old coins he has (He had a 1787 Fugio Cent back then and I think a 1793 Half Cent) were cast copies. Coins they sell to tourist. Not worth anything.
Yet he still post it and I think he eventually told me I was not an expert.
You don't have to be an expert to see this.
I try not to be a cynic. Most people on Ebay selling stuff like this know exactly what they are doing but there are SOME that I think really have no idea and either
A) Were told it was worth something by a family member, an idiot dealer, or the person(s) that originally scammed then.
or
They just convince themselves what they have is money and that when some faceless person comes out of nowhere saying "It is fake and not worth anything" they go into defensive mode.
It is very hard to get thru to some people.

If this is enough to cause you to not buy or sell on eBay, you didn't belong there to begin with!

Oh this stuff is about as bad as jay-walking in a one horse town for Ebay but it all ads up.
I will admit---I have just awful patience when it comes to Ebay. It tears me up.
Gotta agree with Wabbit. If you know what you are looking for, ebay can be a great place. How many stories about major 'picks' have we heard from others, here? That's one main reason why there's the 'You Suck' award. Lots of bargains, but you got to know how/where/what/when/why. Stop concentrating on these types of listings (we all know that, recently, ebay unlocked Pandora's Box, in regard to reporting, and removing, fakes, copies, counterfeits, etc). A majority of sellers sure aren't going to remove items on another ebay member's advice/suggestion. Now that we know a lot of complaints are falling on deaf ears. Before they disbanded the ebay watch group, I had LOTS of success getting listings removed. If it wasn't removed, a concise response as to why it didn't, was sent, but I believe ALL listings I reported, I got responses to. Not anymore, no responses, no nothing, and only a fraction are removed. Get used to it. I have. I just pass by them now and concentrate on what I'm looking for. Sure, I'd love to help save someone from throwing their money away on these types of listings, as I, and numerous others here, did before. But now, I just do my best to make sure the coin is real (if raw), or the slab is real (if slabbed). It's due to this forum I'm able to be more sure of my 'call' on a coin. 'Spotting the fake' is now almost a game I play every day on the 'bay..and the fake slabs on the 'bay are getting better all the time.

<< <i>I was pretty much going to say what the others said. If you're in a venue with thousands of sellers, why let one seller push you away from the venue? Were you excessively bullied as a child? eBay can be a great place to collect just about anything. Just ignore the sellers who are idiots. >>
It is just too much. So many of these successful Ebay power sellers (I won't name names) sell garbage coins or some horribly dipped crap.
It is not just bad sellers--it is bad buyers. How many people bid up on items to then never pay? Then scam's have learned to use the Ebay Buyer Protection to scam pretty well.

<< <i>I contacted the seller in a very polite way and they contacted me back in the same way asking questions. No defensiveness at all. They asked if it was a reproduction, a fake or a counterfeit. >>
Maybe he has lightened up. He had these for sale like back in Christmas and I sent him ONE message just saying that I am pretty sure you have copies and explained why I thought that and sent links to examples of repos that look just like his. I took the time to do that. He replied back how I had no idea what I was talking about and if I was so smart I would own a coin shop and what is my coin shop's name and he'll look me up to see if I am real and on and on and on.
