  I had been out of the hobby for several years in 1982, when I went to the San Francisco Zoo with my girlfriend.
  
  There was a sign by the penguin pool asking people not to throw pennies into the water as they were made of zinc
  and were dangerous to penguins.
  
  I hadn't known until then that the US had switched from making pennies with copper to zinc.

  And yet, even with the switch to Zn, we still loose money each year in the striking. Cents eat holes in our budget pockets.
