1850's C. LeightonShirt Manufactures, first premium shirt manufactures with one store in New York and one in New Orleans.

A considerably rare Merchant Token Store Card too, as there are reportedly 25 or less minted. White Metal and around the size of Nickel.
It has a great obverse design, one that is shared with the American Institute New York Medals and the Hard Times Merchant tokens.

I haven't been able to find all that much information regarding this Merchant but was able to find a few of his advertising adds and posted them below.

So......what does the location 10 Park Place New York look like now?

It appears to be advertising both buisiness's and yes his name was Chas. Leighton.

Construction has started on the new coffee shop at 700 Canal St., but an opening date has yet to be announced.

I found another advertisement .......curious that there is so many advertisements in the Southern newspapers for the Louisiana store,
but haven't found one add yet for New York location.

Makes me wonder how big the store was in New York or was it mainly a manufacturing plant?

Anybody know the history of the style of design on the obverse?

THere is no date on any of the newspaper clippings posted, but as CAF cites 1850's that is earlier than the US trade dollar. From memory its similar to US trade dollar patterns, and British Trade dollars but also earlier than both if I recall correctly.
