New Blue Box For The HOF Coins ?

KudbegudKudbegud Posts: 4,735 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just got a box from PCGS via the USPS with my slabbed HOF coins inside. On opening it I saw a different looking blue PCGS slab container from all the past boxes I have received.

image

It measures about 6 ¼ X 4 ¾ X a little over 4 tall. Inside is a foam divider that could hold 10 slabs in two columns of 5.

My six are in every other slot.

Some of the members reported receiving their coin back in standard long rectangular blue boxes but laid side by side inside to fit. Have others gotten these newer boxes?

Those look like the quarter set boxes with special foam.

Could be. I see the slots on the sides that would take that type of slab. I just tried a PF Quarters holder, ungraded, and it looks like a nice fit. I would think this type of box would be accepted better than the side ways method in a standard box.

Edited to add; BTW, there was a set of Mint capsules in the return box. I had not sent them in with the capsules but used the flips supplied by PCGS. A small bonus that will probably go un-used as I kept the OGP.

My 25 HOFs came back in a red double row cardboard box.

Best to always submit modern mint product, undisturbed, in their original mint capsules. The TPG's approve doing so. Just stick the closed capsule inside a flip and let the TPG do the removal from the capsule. The less hands on these things, the better.

It must be common practice like you suggest derryb. That's why they sent a set back with mine. I wanted to keep the OGP together and trusted my opening skills more than an anonymous PCGS person.

Probably mine. I sent mine in capsules and got the same box but did not get back the capsules. But I didn't keep the OGP so didn't care.

It would be interesting to hear what boxes others got their slabbed coins back.

Was there any filler or were they just length wise, end to end?

I sent off an order of 20 HOF coins. They came in two of the same boxes..
