Do a search for old threads on this topic; you'll find several.
    When in doubt, don't.

I have sold two significant coins through this service. Quite pleased.

On the buy side, it seems to be a longshot as many of the coins may no longer be in the original purchasers hands.

I have never been successful in even getting any response. I actually know one person who actually consummated a deal after many, many tries.

I think REALONE just posted making a deal through this service.
I've offered several times without as much as a response.

I was able to purchase one a few years ago. Most of those I see have been there for many years. Hard to believe they are still available.

I tried it once. I even got a response but their asking price was stupid high.

Like high enough I could have purchased a better coin for the same money. Yes, people can ask what they want for their coins but seriously? Just don't respond if you don't really want to sell...

I have tried on a couple occassions - two reponses; wanting way too much or no reply. It seems that those who win those items want DOUBLE what they won it for originally.

I was pleasantly surprised for once by this feature.
I bought a coin from HA about 2 years ago and had no real need to sell it
Then a few months ago I got an email "You have an offer on your coin"
I did not realize unless you opt out your previous purchases are listed in the "Make offer to the owner" category
I rejected the first few offers but after a few weeks the offer price met my target and I accepted it
Mailed coin to HA and in about 4 weeks got a check from them
    Nice and easy image

I have accepted offers on my stuff only to have the buyers never bother to follow through after the offer is accepted.

I've sold a couple 4 figure comics, get quite a few offers. No coins, though.

Have tried it maybe 15 times. For one I got a reasonable counter that I accepted. Another 6 or so were outright owner rejections. The others I did not hear back, although Heritage sends you an automatic reject after 72 hours.

Used it once, worked fine and fast, had no trouble. Good price, good coin. Some early Proof Jefferson. 1939 (?) Pr66 pastel rainbow toned. This would have been 2010 I guess.

I was contacted and subsequently sold a coin through the service, it was an ex-Newman piece, the least valuable of the coins I purchased during the auction. Sold it for not quite $200, so it wasn't a big deal, but I did make money on the piece with very little effort.

I just sold some seated dimes on decent offers.

I actually got some decent offers on a circ Gobrecht I won a few months ago on a lowball bid, I would have acceted one of the offers but the net after 10% was just a bit too low.

I have not got a check on coins sold but it was only a few ago. Compared to Ebay it is not instant payment. About a year ago one coin sold was returned to me by HA.

I have not been able to buy anything but made 100+ offers.

I think given time this will be more of a playing field. If the commission was 5% and lower than ebay fees this could do really well. It is decent as is.

I seldom check PM's but do check emails often jason@seated.org

I sold a coin in this manner. I was please with the price although I had to chase my money down with Heritage.

An offer is binding. What did Heritage try to do about it? You would think the loss of money would get them doing something?
