My First 1877 Indian Cent

Actually purchased on behalf of a customer/friend of mine, from a dealer/friend of mine, but I got to keep it for a little while.
This was the last coin needed for his Dansco set, that we have been working on for a number of years. His Dansco has most of the early and middle dates in Fine/VF, and the later dates in XF/AU.
He wasn't sure if he'd ever get one, as even the rough, cull examples of this date are not cheap. This was kind of a fortuitous
purchase, where I had just sold a number of Barber and Walker halves to my dealer, and he had just purchased a small interesting
group that I got first shot at. So after some brief negotiation, I was able to acquire it at price that allowed me to resell it to my
friend at Fine Bid. My dealer guaranteed authenticity, and I was pretty sure it was the real deal, but I also showed it to Randy Campbell,
who confirmed it was a genuine '77 Indian cent.

Dennis, That's a weak strike and is pretty normal for this date. It's actually much harder to find one fully struck up on the right side.

No, he will not be selling these anytime in the foreseeable future. He holds his sets for the long term. I think there are a couple upgrades he wants to get
for this set, like the '86 TII, and swapping out a cleaned AU 1904 for an original example. As for a new series, he has mentioned 'wanting to get some more
large cents, if I can find nice ones that aren't too expensive'.....

You mean the scattered verdigris? At the inner leg of N? Right and above at T? Other spots? I would treat it, yes. But they're small and insignificant.
