A NEW TYPE OF FAKE PCGS HOLDER?

joebb21joebb21 Posts: 4,811 ✭✭✭✭✭
The coin looks very much in question to me and the slab is very questionable as well.

Definitely fake. If it weren't for the wrong font on the Series/Coin part, it would be a very good fake. They're getting better...

For what it's worth, the barcode reads as an 1893-S Morgan in MS64.

Ive never seen them try and counterfeit this type of older holder.
The coin is very crudely struck- and weak as well.

There was a time that S$1 was used. Old slab

Sent a nice note to the seller. Said he got it from a local coin shop. Said he'd take it down immediately.

    Bla bla bla bla....

i regret these exist but i would really love to be present when someone first learns pcgs, ngc etc holders have been/are counterfeited on a rather massive scale. it would be painful but bemusing.

then look them in the eye, give them a hug and tell them honestly, "this isn't even the tip of the iceberg, so brace yourself." imageimage

    edited to add:

i just checked and my ebay counterfeit seller folder contains 3,760 files in 781 folders and i'll be honest, i've not given it even an F+ effort. :/

FWIW, I have contacted eBay three times now offering my services to help them determine whether specific coins reported to them are genuine or not. THey have not gotten back to me.
