1847 Large Cent

I'm new to the boards, but have been collecting on and off for awhile - mainly Lincolns. While visiting friends in PA, I stopped into an antique mall to look around and to waste some time. Of course I located a few coins, but most were not in my core collection. One vender had three large cents. I've never really looked at them before, but I thought they were different and $50 for three of them didn't seem like a bad price. So I took a chance. I'm not too good in grading these varieties, so I sent them. This was the result
1836 VF20BN
1848 F12BN
1847 Newcomb 38 variety - only problem with coin is rim bump damage - PCGS graded it fine

I'm pretty happy with the results as they were close to what I thought they were after looking at them more closely at home. I'm happy about the variety, but I didn't think the rim bump was that bad on the coin.

I just thought I would share some happy news on a Tuesday morning.

Hi Jeb! Turn on your "receive private messages" function. I received your PM, and I've been trying to reply to it. I couldn't figure out why my PM wasn't being sent until now. I think you may not have enabled the receipt of PM's yet? -John

P.S. Congrats on your Large Cents! They are fun to collect at a price like you found!
