I recently got this coin off of eBay.

Update:

I received the coin in the mail earlier today. It looks like a lock 55 shot 58 at PCGS in my opinion. The coin is fully lustrous that my lights seem to have trouble bringing out.

@TPRC, I agree it's risky, but the coin was too nice to pass up.

For anyone who wants to do business with this eBayer in the future, he's a real straightforward shooter and will answer all questions promptly.

From the seller's photos, I think it will look pretty darned nice when it arrives. at least 53-55. scarce P mint, way to go!

There is a small nick around the knee area, but the rest of the coin looks pretty nice.

Hard to tell from those unclear pix. Funny how he listed it as a '78. PCGS lists it for $700./58 so for your sake I hope ICG got the grading right on it. As long as you like it, it's all good.

The coin actually looks very very nice from the pics. That said, I would never, ever, buy an ICG piece like this on ebay, sight unseen. Never! Too risky, and too much hassle to return. So, good luck with that and I hope it's a real winner.

Looks weakly struck in the obverse top right quadrant, so you can claim not as described. But the seller is at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska.

Price guide is low for this date (look at the pops and compare to '75). I think he'll do just fine.

The coin looks nice from the revised pics. If no surprises, I'd say $700 is a great price because this date is so underrated.

Definitely worth a try at our host. I didn't think much of the sellers images, so your gamble was more than I would have chanced. I just bought a PCGS-50 from OriginalDan, which I'm happy with. Your purchase was certainly worth the few hundred extra over what the PCGS-50 cost if it crosses at PCGS at 55 or best case 58.

I think it's a fairly straightforward 55. Lots of remaining luster but a touch of wear coupled with a weak strike. 5% shot at 58 IMO.
