laura says she doesn't go on chat rooms yet she quotes a thread today from the forum,..,,she says she loses sales because of bad info on chat rooms ,which leads me tosay she thinks posters and readers are too stupid to think for themselves and should wait for the divine laura to give blessings for opinions
best laura stick to sell coins

I must say I do not think it is a good idea for the people who are collectors here to step up and use their real name on a public forum since one always has to err on the side of caution and assume that bad guys are trolling looking for victims.... its too easy in today's computer world to put names and addresses together....don't have to make it easier for criminals

I think the PCGS forum has the right mix of anonymity and oversight. I enjoy meeting the people who post anonymously here. I respect their anonymity as well. I also applaud PCGS for kicking bad posters off the boards when they became reckless.

If a forum member is maligned or their business suffers because of a post here, they have a right and obligation to defend themselves or make the situation right. I don't think attacking the system is the way to fix an offending post.

I get the reluctance to assume anonymity on the forums. The world has become a frightening place. I second guess my logic in trading in rare coins when vermin hide in the corners and will take your life for a pair of brand name sneakers.

What have we become though? Our passion and avocation has become a cause of fear and trepidation? Our proud names that our fathers and grandfathers and well beyond passed proudly down so that we could boast of our heritage is now reduced by a keyboard to a cutesy little handle?

Is it all worth it? When I have to regret the Heritage mailing with my name on it as it may tip off a shady neighbor, or be afraid to talk about coins to the mailman as he likes to gab with other residents.

I don't know, I think that we have lost a lot in the computer age. Some of it I suppose, we can never regain.

    Edit: Rant over!

Frankly, giving our names here is just empowering a rather silly opinion, and giving it weight it doesn't deserve.

So, if anyone really cares to know my name, send me a PM, and I'll think about it. If I think you need it, I'll tell you. Otherwise, pound sand. image
