Complete Standing Liberty Quarter Set (again)

Over the last year, I have been in the process of overhauling my Standing Liberty Quarter Collection. There are still a few that need addressing, but for the most part this is an XF-BU set now, with the exception of the 1916 at F-15.[d-orange][d-apple][d-straw][d-orange]. I only photographed the obverse side, do to the tediousness of it. So without further ado, here she is.

    Cool set, it is on my to do list in life. Your 17d type 1 and 1920 look stunning. Also I know dansco are cool but you will thank yourself if you get them graded at PCGS when it comes time to sell or upgrade.

    Where did you hunt for them, and which coins were the toughest to find decent in this grade range?

    Walker21d, I do most of my shopping on ebay, and other online dealerships. In my opinion, the 1919-D is one of the toughest SLQs to find nice with a full date. It is much harder than the 1921, or even 1923-s....though full dated 23-s are very tough....and many of them have be cleaned up. 1916 slqs seem to find me, as you can see in my profile....;-)

    I also think the 19D is a tough sleeper in the series - I see more decent 21P's than 19D's. I don't have much feel for the 27S in higher grades though, and yes the 23S is always tough w/ a good strike and no problems. In the recent post about coin legends, etc. I recount an old time retired dealer, who, among other things said he has 'put away' three rolls of VF-AU 23S quarter for each of his three kids! Most of these were acquired many years ago. Boy would I like to see those!

    Thanks for the comments all. I have the 2 slabbed coins velcroed to the inside of the front cover, so they still go with the set. I was really tempted to crack the 23-s out, as it would fit really well with the other coins...but so far I have held myself back. I do have quite a few crackouts in there though of lower value.

    That's a great set. The 16 is ususually attractive for the grade. Nice job.

    I agree the 1916 is incredibly nice.

    Great looking set. I only have a type slq but I think they are one of America's best looking classic coins.

    cool set for sure. a safe bet would say theres no 18/17 over date in there is there?
