Ebay Nuked Acct
Ever hear of this? Wife had acct using same po box. I have 1400 transactions 100% positive. She's 100% positive. Today received a notice from ebay terminating my selling abilities and on the phone they said "we're linked and not appropriate for ebay" ( ! ) I was told the restrictions are permanent and I am sitting here beside myself. Does anyone have advice on this one?
Based on your account information and activity, it looks like user ID XXXGGGRRRR is associated with your account. This usually indicates that both accounts belong to the same person. At this time, you won't be able to sell any additional items with this account because your other account is restricted or otherwise not meeting minimum seller standards.
You won't be able to sell any items with your account until you provide us with additional information. There are 2 ways that you can do this--through My eBay or the next time you sell.
To start the process through My eBay:
1.Click "My eBay" at the top of most eBay pages. You may need to sign in.
2.Go to the selling section.
3.Click the "Request higher selling limits" link in the monthly selling limits section.
To start the process the next time you sell, click the "request higher selling limits" link in the alert message the next time you try to list an item.
You can also begin selling again by resolving any issues with the other account. We've already sent instructions for resolving these issues to the email address registered to that account.

This seems to be your problem. Does your other account have no history or other problems?
So, in that respect, … your issue seems extremely rare for a company based in California. I'm not sure how they address your unique situation.
Resident attorneys at law in California are probably your best chance at an explanation.
After further reading and reconsiderations, perhaps the simplest fix is to pay for another P.O. Box.

<< <i>Use a street address for one account and PO box for the other, or put both accounts under one person's control. >>
Ebay does allow more than one account per address, however they can't be the same exact name of the account holder and they require different paypal accounts, banking accounts and credit cards. An ebay account holder can have his/her name added to another household member's account in addition to having their own ebay account. Advantage to doing this (requires account holder verbal OK over the phone with ebay) is that both parties can discuss account issues with ebay without ebay having to first get verbal permission from the account holder each time a call is made.
Per the OP's last "link:"
Policy overview
There are many reasons why users would choose to have more than one eBay account. For example, users who like to buy and sell may want separate accounts for each activity. Other users who maintain businesses on eBay may prefer to manage separate accounts for different product lines.
Whether you have one account or more, eBay expects users to manage each of their accounts effectively in order to meet the highest buyer and seller standards. These standards and rules regarding performance, risk, and best practices are applicable for each account and help ensure a safe and positive experience on eBay.
Users are expected to resolve issues as they arise, and follow the steps provided by eBay to bring accounts back into good standing before continuing to buy or sell with other accounts. Learn more about how to increase limits on your account.
Make sure you follow these guidelines. If you don’t, you may be subject to a range of actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.
What are the guidelines?
Allowed:
Users may have multiple accounts on eBay. We understand that there are various reasons why someone would choose to have more than one account.
Not allowed:
Registering new accounts or using other existing accounts to avoid buying and selling restrictions or limits or other policy consequences.

i have several ebay ids/accounts and all are in good standing, have been for years and ebay is well aware. i have them for at least a dozen reasons.
i've also had a couple emails in the past where they thought there may have been fishy account relations but was easily fixed. just go through the process and do what they need and if you aren't doing anything wrong, should be up and running in no time. there were even a couple times they asked me about accounts that i had never heard of before and those issues never lasted very long since there weren't any connections.
ebay has sent me probably half a dozen various inquires that sure stung at the time and was frustrating but nothing that was unreasonable given the state of the world. also paypal has put me through the ringer a few times but just like the ebay issues, do what is required, find solutions and be back up and running.

May I respectfully as for more than one? I can see to separate buying and selling, but beyond that don't understand the need. What am I missing? Only asking to determine if it's something that would be suitable in doing. Thanks
<< <i>Nothing has been nuked. You have run into selling limits. Follow the instructions, and for the record, you should try and put a firewall between those accounts. >>
Excellent summation.
They have done untold harm to people in the past 15 years for two or more ebay members hosting photos
on the same server, having the same IP address due to using the public wifi at a coin convention, having the
same physical address when it's a UPS mail store, customer wanting to use the store computer "for just 5 minutes"
to check email...and if they clicked on a "you've been outbid" notice from eBay and years later if they bid on something you
have or their own account becomes substandard, you are forever vulnerable to having your account shut down
for "running a shill bid ring" or trying to use ebay after a related account was banned.
Amazing Yahoo or Google have not taken advantage of all the hatred for eBay to run a competing auction site.
Well as one of the members mentions, read the email. I called back and spoke to someone else who apologized for the inconvenience that my business is exactly the kind that ebay wants and then said "I need to figure out how to get around this" and then started talking almost as though he was talking to himself when he said ok we have to override what that team said, you are definitely linked and the reason you were restricted is because your wife was selling software ( Wife NEVER used the acct to sell anything and she doesn't sell software she sells coin books. ) so they will restore my selling ability within 24 hours but restrict it from selling software!
Unbelievably ridiculous. It's almost as though the system is designed to reward the liar, the cheat..........but the legitimate business make it as tough as possible. No? Maybe I just feel that way after this experience.
Apparently what happened is the wife started a new ebay acct in February and G-d forbid she has the same address as me. Imagine that. That's "the link" they claim.

<< <i>Knowing your business Tom, if I find something I wanna buy from you it will be via your website and not eBay. Yes, I admit, I am one of those collectors that likes to chisel down the price for an off fleaBay and no payPoo transaction. Your a higher end dealer, not a bottom feeder. A presence on fleaBay may not be a bad thing, but not so sure it is a necessity. >>
SaorAlba, I agree with you to a point but lead sources are getting tougher and tougher. We use ebay for precisely that. It's just one part of business plan for lead acquisitions with the net being one of the main sources of those leads.
And feel free to contact me anytime and chisel. Let the joust begin!

Sort the same emotion that we have for an old girlfriend that has done us wrong.
Tip: when you get the automated ebay system on the phone keep saying "agent" till you get a live drone and then insist on speaking to a supervisor. If the supervisors get enough disruptions from their cup of coffee maybe they will deal with the lack of knowledge at the first level.

But in that situation we'd know where she lives.
Just trying to make the OP laugh a little & feel better.....
But yes, sometimes the people at eBay can be really stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them never even use it for themselves.
I've often wondered that myself. Or even one of the existing on-line auction sites like e-Bid, OLA.com or even overstock.com for crying out loud. Why is eBay allowed to have so much of the market? Do they quietly buy out what they feel may be competition for them before the start-up site has a chance to compete?
Sorry if I'm geting a little OT. It sounds like the OP might have come to some resolve with eBay, but at the same time if they can pull the plug on you that quickly, that's something to think about going forward.
<< <i>Amazing Yahoo or Google have not taken advantage of all the hatred for eBay to run a competing auction site. >>
The fact that they haven't should tell you that the barrier to entry is large and, even once that is broached, the issues in keeping it going in a successful way is no easy task.
Can't please everyone. Scammers abound. People get ripped off. People complain so rules are made. Good people get caught in rules and complain. Everyone complains about everything.
I don't have ebay stock (never have), have never worked for them, and don't even use them that much anymore, but on these forums, one can't go more than a day (or even a few hours) within hearing ebay complaints.
There are a lot of things on ebay. Super easy to use. Is it easy to make a profit, if trying to run a business through them? I sincerely doubt it from all the complaints I have seen. Is it easy to hobby using them? I still think it is.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I can't wait.

Yahoo was in the business a decade ago and even with discounted or free final value fees never picked up the traffic needed.
On a similar note, many Silicon Valley type operations were just nailed for collusion in not competing for talent against each other. Perhaps that is also true of competing in market channels. Who knows.

My mind is blown. How can they do this? >>
There has to be more to this story. Here is some info.
Multiple eBay Accounts
On eBay you can have as many accounts as you want. eBay itself confirms this on the Help Page here. All you need to open a new eBay account is a separate email address. You can safely use the same name, address and contact information. All you need is a separate e-mail account.
Why would you need 2 or more eBay accounts? There are several possible reasons:
1) To sell in multiple niches.
2) To keep private sales and purchases separate from business transactions.
3) To use one account for buying and another one for selling when working with a used goods concept.
These are the most typical situations where you would need to have multiple eBay accounts and eBay is totally cool with that.
What you should be aware of though, is that all these accounts will be interlinked by eBay and that’s bad news. In practice this means that if one of your accounts get suspended/banned, the others will be closed shortly afterwards because from eBay’s point of view you will have become too much of a risk as a seller.
But these “hard bans” usually only happen when you breach eBay’s selling policies – like selling counterfeit or prohibited items

This is not a violation, call ebay, tell the drone you want the account department and then ask to speak to a supervisor. Not sure what they mean by "linked," but if that is a problem a supervisor can help you get them unlinked.

More info unfolding. Wife had an acct. She opened an additional acct which they apparently restricted. She then attempts to open another acct which then apparently sets off a red flag. They suspend the new acct. That was back nov 2012. She never pursued it, thought it was a dead issue. They restricted her acct and it then showed same address etc ( the link ) and as such they restricted mine too. Came in the form of an email and it's like entering the twilight zone. Thankfully this makes up a very very tiny part of our business but I can see how something like this would just end someones financial life without so much as an explanation.
