I would not pay a premium for a holder, but I understand why it makes sense when you are trying to complete a uniform set.

I like collecting these raw (silver OGP) and from circulation. I wouldn't get these slabbed but if you do, I can see the attraction of getting / completing a flag set.

With all due respect...and I wish you lots of success on your goal...I don't think you're going to find much enthusiasm on this forum for any kind of state quarter holder. I would be surprised if many knew what a flag holder is.

I suspect you know a lot more about these than most folks here. But someone may chime in. It's a diverse group.

I don't collect the whole series...too diluted, too long running, too mundane.

I did get a few years, though. Mainly for my son. I got his birthyear. I also got a really good deal on another year (put in a small "ha-ha" bid on ebay and ended up winning, so I followed through with the purchase).
I have a few others, sporadically, but don't care for the whole series.

I prefer non-flag holders for the most part. The flag holders are more gimmicky looking. That said, the 2 years I mention before....most of them are flag holders for the business strikes. It was what was there. I don't mind them, but I won't pay extra.
Kind of like so many of the custom labels for the Lincoln cent centennial, the various SAE labels with the signature series, etc.

It detracts from the coin (and the pertinent portion of the label, imho) and makes it harder to get a set that looks similar at a later time when someone is trying to find just a couple of coins. This is particularly true when the holders are only available to dealers of a certain size of submission.

I have been burned by the USMint on buying a few things later discontinued and by the TPGSs doing the same thing. I was going to get my son all the presidential slugs in yearly multi-coin holders. Well, after doing the first few years, that is now much harder. I understood I was wasting good money to purchase things that weren't worth that much, but I liked it from a collecting and showcasing side of things. Now, I will wait until after a series ends and then go back and get what I want as I will know if it is completely available or not. I may miss out on some good deals, but I doubt it.

Since the most I would pay for any State Quarter regardless of condition is 50 cents I don't think a holder is in my future.

Completing that 100 coin collection in MS 67 in all flags is a very neat collection. I might try to complete it since you are nearly 3/4 of the way through.

Since I routinely resubmit super high end coins for the grade, many of my flag holders are now blue holders and the flags are lost. And, I expect that may continue even more down the road.

I had a complete graded set up to the end of 2004. I personally do not like the flag holders. Than the Satins came out and decided it was too much to complete the set. I only collected the business strikes.

I bought a registry set that was on ebay in 2004 that was complete to the year 2003 for a $1000. That was a mistake, since the set has lost most of its value since them. I still have the set graded in the MS66-MS67 range. Glad I stopped collecting in 04. However, now I am sure you can get bargains on graded sets now if you can find them. I doubt many dealers will bother with these anymore except for the MS 69s.

I did buy a NGC 1999 PF 70 Silver set in 2004 for $1500 and sold 2 years later for $4500. That was at the height of the popularity of collecting the series. The Delaware NGC 70 Silver Proof was the sought after coin in the series. The holy grail. Glad I sold back than, I would never get that much for the set today.

I don't care for any of the "fluffy" labels; Satin Finish, West Point Mint, Black Diamond, Silver Eagle, Presidential, etc... I would prefer continuity in my collection, but it is really hard to get all of the same labels unless you send 'em all in for reholdering. Not too crazy about the "blue-ish" upper portion labels either.

Not all dates are going to be available in flag holder's I think. As these holders were only available to dealers in bulk submissions.
When I did my set I didn't even worry about the type of holder but had a lot in the flags at the end, didn't seem to matter price wise when I sold either.
