<< <i>" money is the root of all evil." >>

i believe it is: "LOVE of money is the root of all evil". money is inherently neither good nor evil. "money" could just as well be a rock or a tree as far as morality is concerned

Now there is an enlightened viewpoint.

back to the bear and rabbit story Dog I laughed so hard I couldn't catch my breath!! Best one I've heard this year.

who says man is good or evil. The bible? and who wrote it? MAN! Now there's something to think about. The old testiment-- Dont eat pork. Good idea back then. made a lot of sense. Everything else? Just try to be good to each other and you wont need it.

Wow!! What a thread to land in the middle of after not visiting for 6 months! It must be some kinda harmonic convergence or sumethin'..maybe one of those "jubilees" that occur down in the bayou when the conditions are just so...(anybody ever hear of those things? - they sound pretty whacky!) Anyway, in the past 6 months, my older brother has passed, so I've had some pretty crappy feelings of my own - he hadn't spoken to anybody in the family for about 13 years. We have seen the sun around here twice in the last month, and today my wife came home saying that the world is filled with miserable people and should just be imploded. Has she been talkin to you, Ed? My take on the whole deal is that we're being tested in this "material world", and tests are rarely easy. I also think that some of our behavior does go back (as mentioned earlier) to survival of the fittest, when the biggest, baddest, and smartest (but not necessarily the purest of heart) assured the species would continue. However, God did promise that the meek shall inherit the earth, and who are we to argue? But just like last year when I stumbled upon this forum, I don't think you will find a better "collection of heads" (sorry) to bounce your ideas/worries off of. In fact, I recall a fellow named Bruce who logged on when he thought he was having a heart attack...speaks pretty well for the quality of people at your fingertips! Anyway, a few bad apples don't spoil the whole barrel, but they sure stink the rest of us all up!

Didn't the previous host and a group of appraisers get charged with setting up the auction prices and concurrently drove up the prices to an artificial high? Isn't that why the previous host is no longer hosting?

But, I must say I do enjoy the show and am truly happy to see some of the "non-artificial" excitement when told their treasure is just that... a treasure!

I think what they actually got into the soup for was telling people that their stuff was worthless, then offering them a few hundred bucks for it - then showing up at prestigious museums and asking a king's ransom for the artifacts. They got caught on some Civil War uniforms, I believe. Just goes to show, you can fool some of the people all the time, etc etc...

Man, if that's true, put some ditto marks for me under Ed's initial post.
That humanity at large will ever be able to dispense with artificial paradises seems unlikely. Most men and women lead lives at the worst so painful, and at the best so monotonous, poor, and limited, that the urge to escape, the longing to transcend themselves, if only for a few moments, is and always has been one of the principal appetites of the soul.

I'll be damned, I also didn't know that happened. I love that show, and it is pretty disappointing to here of that kind of crap going on.

I sure had to read a lot of posts before I even had a clue as to why this thread was started. So is there a link to read more about these terrible allegations against the ARS people, or do I have to take the word of a semi-soused Ed.

Seems like one rule of thumb is never, ever sell what you don't know to somone who says your stuff is junk.

Bump to stimulate contributions to the Mr Eureka giveaway thread. I figured it might help a lot of
the newer members of the forum (including me!) to get more of a flavor of the protagonists.

Wow, a blast from the past! Is Russ, the CoinFerengi, still around? Hopefully NumisEd has turned around since 2003. Mr. Eureka, I'm sure, has considerably fewer posts when he tried to calm him down.
