Was expecting another neon Bustie and saw that chain cent and said, "Holy S*** Batman!!!" Congrats and well done! Had a chance to get a PCGS mid-grade chain in the mid 1990's and backed out. Wish I would have done it, they've gone way up since then.
Also care to share how did Mrs. J reacted to your newp >>
Going from a G6 to an AU55 is not to bad And considering that every dime thus far has been from selling other coins and collectibles, Mrs. J doesn't care.
Sadly many sacrifices have been made and will continue to be made. Some include a 1796 Quarter, a 1798 $5 and my G6 Chain Cent. Whats funny though is that the coin has actually gone up in value since I agreed to buy it.
All coins kept in bank vaults. PCGS Registries Box of 20 SeaEagleCoins: 11/14/54-4/5/12. Miss you Larry!
" At this point I could sell it for a decent profit if need be. "
Uh, I think you may want to run that thought by the current party in possession. Unless you have some very liberal terms with the seller, the title usually remains with the seller until you've paid the full sale price. At this point it appears you're merely a minority share owner. So maybe your claim rings true, but only if the seller agreed to make it available to another prospective buyer, and even upon consummation you may just be entitled to a percentage gain based on your percent of ownership. Still a good play in the current market with the right terms negotiated.
<< <i>The chief was right! It's an AU55 CAC chain cent! I've been selling many coins and other collectible in order to fund this. Thankfully my dealer/friend who has it has given me terms that I just couldn't pass up. Since I agreed to buy it, the value of the coin had gone up with auctions, so it was a no brainer. It's more than 1/3 rd paid off. Hopefully it will be done sooner than later. Here's an in hand shot:

I don't think I have enough coins in my collection to sell to fund a purchase like this.
