Fake/Counterfeit ASE vs Real ASE? Both real it would appear.

Ran across this album on a post on Reddit.

In addition to the photos, they posted a video if the sound made when dropping each coin. Also, they claim a specific gravity test was inconsistent as well.

To be clear, these are NOT my photos NOR my claims (NOR my series for that matter). I am wondering what you think. The design changes are easy to account for, but what about the sound and SG?

i'm pretty sure doing a comp of a 99 vs 12 is not optimal as there were design changes, most notably the IN above WE in the motto. just wanted to post that.

keep up the good work sharing. image

for some reason, the 2012 looks bad to me.

What is the point of the photographs?

To possibly "highlight" differences in the design such as the long stroke on the 1999 E (purported fake) vs the Short Stroke on the 2012 E?

Or Maybe the weak Stars on the 1999 vs the beefier stars on the 2012?

Neither of these prove a fake since the design of the Obvers AND the reverse changed in 2008. Prior to 2008, the E in LIBERTY had a short stroke. Beginning in 2008, the E was changed to a shorter stroke.

The Stars in the reverse were beefed up as well.

Again, what's the point of the photo's?

What I am thinking is that the 1999 is actually authentic as, photographically, the author is comparing apples to oranges (i.e design 1 to design 2)

The weight tolerances seem to be correct given the minor wear on the 1999 as well and after watching the video's, I'm not completely satisfied of the authenticity of the SG tests.

What I do think, is that the recent counterfeits that are showing up in Canada has brought out a lot of arm-chair experts that have armed themselves with just a little bit of knowledge that will broaden the fear epidemic of counterfeit coins.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

They're both real. The 99 just has a planchet crack that ruins the ring. Case closed.

They both look authentic to me. Try a known authentic '99 next to the "fake" '99.
