End of the year clemency.......

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 25,035 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yep, Putin gave a pardon to the Pu**y Riot band and others.
Obama pardoned dozens.

I would like to see PCGS give a bit of clemency to some of our banished.

Like Mark Feld, Roger Burdette to name two.

Are there others you would like to see back and posting?

Now's your chance to say who you would like pardoned. Perhaps a year end miracle would
come to pass!

While I am not 100% certain I belive that I read ATS that both of those, perhaps others, have been extended the offer to become members here again and have declined the offer. Besides you can always enjoy and avail yourself of their knowledge by visiting ATS.

Conder101 without a doubt so that perhaps he could update the PCGS Slab Generations thread.
I'd like Bushmaster8 back as well.

RWB had open disdain for the service. he'd have to do some changing too. The last person to express open disdain by saying collector';s society was bettr, redllama9109 , is now bammed.

Mark Feld? I've forgotten his story.

maybe if some people grow up, those above are not who I'm thinking of, eventually their perm bans can be reconsidered. Eventually... in the not so soon future, and even in the not that soon future, either. (he who shall not be named) Many, many sincere amends would have to be made though. As I have compared, this is not the case of crazy (some recent spectacular court cases one of which was a surprise "not guilty"), it is really the case of severe immaturity and probably a not nearly as good a you'd guess home life... probably even a horrendously lacking home life maybe.

    conder101? what;s the story there?

    bushmaster8 was bammed? story?

a contrarian as always, I tend to think more members should be banned instead of letting some back. what's the sense of having "rules" otherwise??
  • Options
Also it should be noted that for every positive poster that went too far like a coinguy there were a dozen tards like ksteelheader, BNB, peacemonkey plus several shady types that abused the circle of trust. An amnesty would bring droves of marginal people back and the few good ones most likely wouldn't come back anyway being prideful people. Horrible idea, if mark feld really wanted to come back I sure a frank 30sec conversation with a smidge of contrition is all it would take. Heck it worked for Ankur who doesn't command a fraction of the respect mark does.

MGLICKER...since this is the most appropriate thread to ask...I noticed that when you first started posting a couple months ago it seemed that many members already knew who you were. Did you used to be a member here at CU under a different username? Or is this your first run here at CU? Not trying to be nosy, but I have been curious.

I am definitely not in favor of carte blanche clemency (though having BNB and LovedByGod back would be totally amusing). But for the posters I listed (plus a few others) I think the gain from having them return would be immense. I think the op's idea was that PCGS exercise its generosity to take the first step by offering a few valuable posters the chance to return, NOT to make those posters take the first step. I would be in favor of that. I miss the information provided by the three posters I noted; plus there may be a few others who have a high signal to noise ratio that would make them valuable participants.

Oh Boo Hoo. I miss Mark Feld again. You think he even wants to come back? I don't know, don't really care. I know it's a long ways away ATS and a scary Internet out there. Yes, there are some good contributers long gone. Some leave on their own as well.

I don't see it happening, much as I'd like it. Feld, Conder, and RWB were great assets. I don't know all the stories but I'm privy to some. They were not pretty.

I don't believe it is true they were asked back and refused. Mark and Roger read this forum often. Sometimes they'll even reply ATS.

Rather than bother my teenage nieces on Christmas figured I'd just go ahead and ask: what on earth does 'ATS' mean?

And for the record, while I've lurked for years and I rarely post, I've never used another account or anything of the sort. With the technology nowadays I'd imagine PCGS knows exacly who's on this board and such attempts are futile and mildly ammusing.

Also, why was Mark Feld booted in the first place? He seems like a nice guy in real life. PM is fine if you don't want to post it.

    Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

I'd like to see ksteelheader back. Besides other topics he'd want to talk about, we could watch the big Type B thread he started. Started it just as they were gettin' hot. Would have loved to see that thread go from 'this' to 'that', what with the pricing changes, opinion on the 'future' of the variety, how long it took for certain new pop-tops to be made after some thought the previous pop-top would remain safe forever (shining example, the '61 in MS65...boy, the MS65 was top-pop for a long time, and I was finding them everywhere and starting to hoard them, then, ruh-roh, 2 MS66's are made (thanks Mitch!!..image )....now you can't barely give away a '61 in MS65.... and, at least from what I recall [it WAS along time ago, and I am one that suffers from long term memory loss due to one reason or another] one very prominent numismatist, who carries a LOT of weight around here [not being literal, not knocking his actual weight...I weigh more than he does...hell, I hope to be in as good shape as he is when, er, um, I'm his age ...hope that's not a 'foot-in-mouth' statement...lol, so, I'm not roasting his weight nor his age]. This very knowledgeable numismatist (in the top 5 knowledge-wise, and he has handled some of the BEST, most VALUABLE coins on the planet), he just about thought the chances were better of finding a new example of an 1804 dollar in the wild than the making a '61 'B' in MS66. NOW, what are there, 8 '61 'B's in MS66??). It'd be interesting to see the ups and downs, the comments...while owning a number of 'B's in all dates, raw and graded, I'm vested in the variety...lol....

Funny, now that I think about it, when Ken (ksteelheader, not me!..lol) got bammed and he couldn't update the thread-pops, sale prices, etc-that's just about when realized prices started to free-fall, new pop-tops were made, pluses were handed out....the variety took a beating, but my guess is the variety's 'death knell' was when PCGS gave notice that attribution fees were going to be just about doubled...more of them came out of the woodwork than I would have thought, judging by the existing pops at the time (it really showed they weren't as rare as some thought), but I was surprised by how many 'less than uncs' were attributed...THOSE, man, you REALLY can't give them away, and any who paid to have them attributed, they are underwater on them forever (unless it's a '64-D Type C)....beating the clock and saving the $$ when the attribution fees got raised didn't help the 'under unc' coins in the LEAST, and things spiraled out of control (except for the absolute top-pops) from there). I liked Ken, a good guy, and would like to see him back. I know he's not everyone's cup o' tea, but who really is (I know I'm not).

Excellent thread/topic, but just a fantasy...as has been said, some HAVE been told to 'come on back over', and they never took the opportunity to come back, and it is a GREAT loss of knowledge for ALL of us here, not just newbs.
    I'll come up with something.

The last time Mark was bammed, he was simply guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He really did not violate any of "the rules" on the day he was axed. He was a victim of HRH's rage that was being directed at bushmaster8 for exposing some dirty little industry secrets.

Yeah I miss some of the bammed folks...others (BNB, etc.) not so much. I believe COINGUY was bammed , allowed back, then was booted again...not sure though. The knowledge lost to this forum is considerable but I do understand why to an extent. One of the bammed folks I miss the most is BongoBongo. For some reason his posts just really cracked me up...I laugh inside every time I think about them!

But the rules are clear most times and I think our hosts have been more than gracious and warned posters prior to locking them out.

How do some know so fast that someone is bammed?
I don't think redllama9109 was absent for a day and people declared him outahere.

I was afraid we were going to lose a few in the "poofed" IGWT thread.

There are SOME that you just know are going to push the envelope, that they are loose cannons, and their days are numbered almost immediately. When they go off the deep end (like ParkHunter, man, the things he called me in his LAST post, as ParkHunter, were ridiculous, not to mention ridiculously funny, IMO, but 'the powers that be' most definitely did not!!...LOL), then threads get poofed, well, as Joe Pesci said in the movie Casino, 'you just know someone's gonna get clipped'.
