Newman world coins

With all this buzz around the Newman sale let's not forget there's is a part III for world coins.

I was shutout on the sale this weekend, prices were quite strong for the few coins I wanted. Here's to hoping there are some nice world coins offered in the various series collected by many of us here.

Other than those mentioned in the article linked above, anyone know what the focus of the newman world collection was? Any amazing coins to discuss?

I haven't forgotten about part III of the sale. That is what I'm waiting for. I haven't heard anything about what's available other in the press releases from NGC. I hope to learn more before NYINC.

Been waiting anxiously to see the auction post, but nothing yet. Lots of coins in the "non-floor session" posted today. Trying to figure out if those are Newman coins or not....seems strange that there would be a large non floor auction of world coins so soon after the NYC sale....

I'm assuming the Newman world coins have nothing to do with Col. Green. Can anyone corroborate? I've never read anything about Green collecting world coins but with the sheer volume of coins he bought I could see it happening.

From what I've read, it appears that Col Green was partial to World gold.

That's normal for large Heritage sales, including the NYINC. What's unusual is that this year the non-floor sessions will be followed by the Newman sale. It's going to be a helluva two weeks in NYC.

Andy,

NYINC sale goes off on the 5th and 6th. Newman is the 14th, 15th and 16th. Non floor is the 19th and 20th. See what I was saying?

Took a good look at some of these earlier today - is it just me or are most of these obviously cleaned/washed long ago?

If affirmative, I bet if I had sent any of these in, I'd have gotten them back in a body bags..details galore.

That doesn't feel right no matter how I look at it.

That said the Emden 2 Taler is to die for!

I think that between Rudman's Central American Republic gold in the first sale, and Newman's Swedish and Danish coins (which I also collect), I'm pretty much doomed.

And I wouldn't have it any other way!
