Does anyone recall or know anything about the Mount Vernon Collection that Superior auctioned Nov 15-18 1976 in Beverly Hills, CA?
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.

In case you did not notice, there are several copies of the Farouk sale in the above listings. Some people were looking for one of those a few weeks ago.

Whose was it. Was it considered a major collection. Was it considered rare or high end material. How big was it.
The reason I ask is that I purchased a 1950-1957 set of Proof Sets in a large "Capital Plastic" type of holder. When it arrived it noted that it was lot #1058 of the "The Mount Vernon Collection" auctioned in November of 1976.
    Thanks for any information!

Unfortunately, there is no clue in the catalog as to whether it was a consignment or conglomeration. Someone else may recall... Your item is indeed lot #1058. The sale appears to have featured bust & seated silver coinage - especially quarters, halves, and dollars. Plus a large section of world coinage. It was a four-session sale spanning four days.
