Close up of an 1842-O, R6- Seated Liberty 50c variety

I just got this coin in today and thought I'd share a pick of a neat Errant 4 in gown variety. It's probably the only one you'll ever see! It's a 1842-O medium date, reverse of 1842 Seated half. Rated a R6- by Wiley/Bugert. There is a remnant (upper left triangle) of a misplaced 4 in the gown of Liberty. Correctly attributed as WB-103. It's the first one I've seen. Enjoy:

It is a neat variety however, I am afraid it is not an R6- coin, they are much more common than that.
I have 7 in different die states, but I have a thing for the 42-O seated half.

Wow! That's awesome. The WB book calls it R6-, I guess they need to write a new book and take a survey!
Bill did come out with a new book for the O mint seated halves and off the top of my head I think it might be an R4 now in the new book. I would tend to agree on the variety being in the R4 to R3+ range. Again, it is still a really neat variety but once you know what to look for and start looking at 42-Os you tend to see more than you would think as they are often not attributed. I think only 2 of my 7 were attributed when I purchased them and I have passed on many more that were not attributed on ebay.
As a side note my very first PCGS seated half was a 42-O and it did end up being the 4 in gown variety but I didn't know it at the time I purchased it and after I discovered it from Bill and Randy's old book it ignited a real passion for seated halves and now I have quite a few.
