A flood of memories. Loved Wiffle throughout the 80s. We lived in a cul-de-sac that made for an epic field. I even remember stuffing the bat with paper balls and pasting the outside with bumper stickers to increase the weight. We also used a lot of paper/duct tape balls when we lost the Wiffles.

I still see them at K-Mart, and play with my boy, but I never see other kids playing, which is a bummer and maybe a sign of the times.

It was easy to zip off a nasty curve or screwball . I remember once the ball got a crack in it , we would put duct tape on it , which gave it a little weight . It was harder to grip , but MAN you could throw it hard . Also with the tape on it , you could hit it a whole lot farther too.

I loved hardball much more , playing into my college years , but the time with the wiffle ball was a great time too.---- Sonny

Kind of surprised it only went for 15 bucks. Played many a Wiffle Ball game in my day and I could throw a good curve. We used to put the duct tape on the barrel of the bat, made it a lot more powerful image.

As another poster said, I never see any kids out doing Wiffle Ball anymore. In fact, most times when I see kids playing sports, it's almost always part of an organized league. Only true pickup games I see played are basketball.
