  Why bother? That coin does not carry much of a premium. You might get a damaged details grade but it is not worth the effort. JMO.

  Well there is a Tear Drop variety on SLQ's, but this isn't one of them

  am I wrong in thinking that a 1917-S type 1 standing Liberty is a key date coin carrying a decent premium with a full head?

  The 17-S is the toughest of the three minted type ones but not considered a key date and just having a head doesn't make it full.
  
  This examples has major damage and might just be worth bullion value.

  No as the AU50 has far more remaining head details then your example.

  Best to start with "full coin." Then worry about "full head."
  
  Somebody might pay $10 for this just for fun and send it in to
  see the response. "early Bitcoin?"

  No disrespect, but you simply cannot compare an AU coin to a cull. Full head is usually a designation used for AU or BU coins. Keep posting, we will save you a lot of money.

  hey Bob I know that, it is not a full head , the shild has to much wear, the strike is a little weak and it has a big blob of silver on the lower left.

  Why send it in? Are you concerned it's not authentic? Why would you spend the grading fee, shipping and insurance both ways, and processing fee on this coin?
