    Slightly broadstruck?
Interesting to stare at and change your focus, almost creates an optical illusion varying between a single and double rim,
    especially near the tail.

What's up with the whole coin?--Looks like a 3-leg to me. Very deteriorated die. A strange coin indeed.

Don't know about rim but you've definitely got a nice 3-1/2 legged there.

Wasn't even familiar with that variety. (Not my series). Here is the obverse.

Should check out Ron Pope's book Buffalo Nickels the Abraded Die Varieties. You've got a coin worth far more than the regular issue

...kinda almost looks like the whole coin was nic-a-dated. image

After looking at a bigger pic on my PC, I thinks there's some porosity to the planchet, but not acid dated

It probably was not acid treated, but it is corroded as evidenced by the overall pitting/porosity. Perhaps it was a buried coin at one time. Still a neat coin; not sure what is taking place with the rim issue on the reverse.

  • Very porous surfaces. Has environmental damage.Looks like it has been harshly cleaned

Environmental damage across the coin. The double rim is not uncommon for this series.
