Disapproved because he thought a personal portrait was unseemly, undemocratic. Portraits were reminders of an unwanted hierarchy.

Yeah, he can no longer afford to pay for the domain. Bummer.
He was a strong believer in hierarchy, but feared a new US monarchy.
