Do acid treated Buffalo Nickels have any value?

I ask this question because I have several 1913 type 2 D ans S acid treated coins I have gotten out of some rolls from a State auction and because some one is offering a trade of a 13 t2 S that looks prety good like the person who did it cared abou the coin.

Check eBay completed listings, they sell frequently.

I was happy to sell an acid treated 13-S Ty 2 for $25 recently to a guy who deals in acid dated Buffalos extensively, and he said he expected to make a profit re-selling it. Any of the key dates, 13-D-S Ty 2, 14-D-S, 15-S and the 21, 24, 26 S's are all worth a few bucks at least.

  • Thank you for the info I was thinking this is akin to damage/cleaning and thus rendering the coin valueless.

No coin is valueless as you state. I mean no disrespect, but I suggest you really sit down and search eBay. Lots of these questions you are asking can easily be answered by a quick search on eBay. Plus, you educate yourself, too.

pricing is one thing but sometimes there are some unrealistic sales on ebay, and some unrealistic items for sale with some unrealistic descriptions. ebay education is not always 100% good.

but in this case, yeah, an ebay search might find the honest sellers of acid buffs who accurately disclose such.

he's new. he'll get used to it all soon. plus eventually he'll realize how much time he's spending on the forums. image we all go through that.

  • I ask the questions because I would like to hear from the people who have the best knowledge. As for ebay I pulled one of my coins because of the information on this forum and it was at $175.00 but I found out the coin was altered. To me a coin that is altered, cleaned, dipped, etc.. changes the value and often leaves the coin with no value like the post I had about a 1917 merc dime. Just because someone buys something on ebay doe not make that something correct. So I seek information of those who have more knowledge than myself and I then become more educated and will not make the same mistakes in the future (at least I hope LOL).
