  Not sure what caused the toning but isn't the second coin doubled, i.e. along the lower bust line?

  I thought a lot of these were stored in original Stacks (and other) paper envelopes...but I don't think that toning came from there...maybe LOC or Meghrig holders. Notice I didn't mention coin docs?

  the color looks similar to the 1971-73 Canadian Dollars and those came in Velvet lined boxes, so perhaps these were stored in a cabinet of some type with Velvet drawers. it seems like both sides of the coin(s) came in direct or close contact to whatever the storage medium was.

  This type of toning came from the original envelopes they came in and stayed in until now. Several years ago I sent an original set with this type of toning in for grading and they graded MS66.
