1961 proof set

with what appears to be a ddr franklin half dollar. Doubling appears in (dollar, America, and the right wing of the eagle. ) How would a person go about getting this verified or authenticated, or is it worth the effort? thanks, zippcity.

There is a picture in the Redbook.

If it is the DDR, it is definitely worth getting it certified.

CONECA has 11 different Proof DDR's listed for 61.
It does not sound like "The Big One" as the OP didnt mention EPU.

I have one of the minor DDR, not the 801; when you find that variety you will know it and it sounds like yours is nothing really special. the area you should be looking at is "E Pluribus Unum" which will jump out to you as doubled. there are pictures readily available online and in books which will help you far more than this thread.

I did see the picture in the redbook and NO it is not the big one. So just a minor error , oh well I like it anyway. Thanks for the input, zippcity.

There are multiple threads on the forms that discuss 1961 doubled die reverse half dollar proofs. They have pictures of the big DDR. A couple of formum members, including me, have found this coin in OGP proof sets. Just go the search box and type in 1961 ddr to pull up the old threads.
