Canadian Maple Leafs

How many different silver maple leafs can they pump out.

Series has become very difficult to try and collect.

Why are they doing this?

Ridiculous. I have stopped collecting them altogether. I think their annual catalog of material is essentially a joke - it fully lives up to the nightmare that stamps became, and leaves the Franklin Mint of vintage times smelling of roses.

And now they are being very well copied by the Chinese .. they are hard to tell apart without knowing the markers. They are available in white metal, silver coated copper, a weird silver alloy and .999 silver .. but they are all counterfeit and illegal to own up here.

And, now that they are making pretty good fakes, you can get any coin (including ML's and other NCLT) that you want (US or Canadian or any other country) in a PCGS holder, sent postage free from China. The PCGS numbers are legit, but the coins aren't ... the number will coincide with the ddae/denomination of the coin inside, but the coin will be fake. Additionally ALL the fakes for that date will have the same PCGS number ... the numbers being taken directly off the Heritage (and others) website. It's getting freaky out there folks.

Interesting, so does anybody still try and collect a complete silver (or gold) maple leaf set.

I have a complete date set of regular bullion issue silver maples. Also the three Olympic coins and the wildlife series. But I don't collect the privvy mark collector coins at all.

Last year I started adding the Wildlife Series Maples to my silver bullion holdings. They had limited mintages of 1 mill each and were (and still are) in demand. I also got a Mint-sealed tube or two of the privy coins. Now that spot silver is ~ $21+, they are holding their value due to the collector premium.
