I'm not sure of the simile but Gallium is man made so it's not that rare nor limited. By 2011 world production of gallium was an estimated 216 metric tons and from what I read, purities of 99.9999% are routinely achieved and commercially widely available.

That said, SPOT is probably pretty low.

Or do you mean it's man-made in the sense that it's mined and refined, same as gold and silver and all the rest?

Here it is for $15 per gram or $466.50 per ounce...

Here it is for $27 for 15 grams (Plus $8 S/H) or just about $60 an ounce....

Hmmmm, there seems to be some sort of price conflict.

From what I read, it is a bi-product when manufacturing other elements (Aluminum an Zink I believe), very rarely naturally found.

Try to buy it as a radiopharmaceutical and see what price it is.

That's neat that the melting point of it as a solid is 85.6°
