Is it safe to do a 1 day ebay auction?

I'm looking to get lots of a cash for a very expensive coin ($2,000+) and was wondering if I will get little cash if I do a 1 day ebay auction.

Have any of you done 1 day auctions and gotten lots? I may not be here to ship in 3 days, which is why a 1 day auction would be the best for me.

Would I not get enough (or at least--an average amount)?

Thanks

What is the coin? Graded? Gold or silver?

Need some more info. If it's gold then one day is fine for bullion. Probably the same for silver but you seem
to indicate that this is not the case?

I would make sure ending time is in the evening. for more people to be home viewing lots. I have done a few one day auctions, I started the opening bid near my break even point and let the bidders have their way with it. Mix results sometimes you get good bidding back and forth sometimes not.

In my experience doing Ebay, Mondays are the best for getting bidders. The weekends not so much. Do a three Day auction ending Monday night and you should get your price. If you do it Friday to Saturday night, many of the coin bidders will not see your Auctions.

Let us know how it goes.

If your looking for lots of cash do a 1 day Buy-It-Now or a 7 day auction as I doubt enough potential bidders will tune in to catch a 1, 2, or 3 day auction.

    Edited to add:

The Florida FUN show is going on right now and the major auction venues will captivate the interest of many potential buyers more then Ebay.

I decided I will just keep this coin ($20 lib. in MS63) and list my $5 for no reserve.

I'll sell the $20 when I have time for a 3 day auction. Thanks guys!!

You could always try the Buy/Sell/Trade US Coin Forum here with a set price.

I only do 1 days auctions.

Unless it is a truly unique item. But few coins qualify for that.

If it is an expensive item, I often do 10 day auctions. Just gives a better shot for more eyeballs to see the item.
