Yes, the Indian Cent is thicker, as it should be. From 1859 through part of 1864 Indian Cents were make of Copper/Nickel and were on thicker planchets than those from the later part of 1864 through 1909. This is normal.

He states it's thicker than other 1863s he's seen and it appears to be thicker than your standard copper-nickel. Breen writes that "thick-flan" specimans of the proofs produced in 1863, said to be pure copper, were experimental and rare. This has a copper-nickel look to it so it's anyone's guess as to what it actually is. Think I remember a similar, if not the same, raw coin show up on Ebay last year.
