I've seen plenty of counterfeit PCGS holders, but this is the first anacs one I have seen.

counterfeit

Also, if anyone else wants to report this raw counterfeit:
raw 1889-cc fake

This eagle is in a Coinworld holder, not an ANACS. What is the problem? Is the coin a fake?

Yes, I should have specified. The $10 in the second post is just a counterfeit. Not sure why I decided to post it, considering there are about 1 million (hyperbole of course) other counterfeits on ebay. I just happened to run across it while this thread was open in another tab.

    Got it, changed thoughts midstream!

first post was a fake coin in a fake holder and second was just a fake $10 coin.

I looked at the raw cc yesterday and matched it up to a VAM3. I decided it had just
been polished but you think it's a fake?

Yes it is fake unfortunately. There is weakness in the details, numerous tooling spikes, granularity, color of the metal and whatnot.

I'd like to see better pictures of that ANACS holder.
The apparent grade of the doin does not match the grade on the holder.
And even with blurry pictures, the ANACS coin looks "funky".

The other two coins (raw 1889-CC $1, Coin World 1907-S $10) are definitely counterfeit.

    reported

the 89-cc is clashed and has a bunch of gouges. visually entertaining despite not being authentic and probably no silver content.

the anacs coin is counterfeit but the holder i'm not sure about. can't verify since the cert number since it is covered. could be a cut holder. there is some scraping at the top by the mintmark writing. would be only the 2nd counterfeit holder i've seen thus far. i'm thinking this is a good thing?

    good finds.

That ANACS coin the OP refers to has a Teletrade sticker on the reverse, fully readable numbers. I suppose, if you wanted to get into the mud, they could verify that coin was or wasn't the original one they sold....meaning someone swapped a sticker to intentionally help the deception, if it is actually counterfeit. But the images are so lousy.....I don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling looking at it, but again, the images, and if one really wanted to, you could find out what coin that sticker was for.

Could it be that it was actually sold via Teletrade as is?????
    I'll come up with something.

Could this be a real slab where a real coin was removed and then replaced with a fake coin and the slab was then resealed.

I thought that too but the reverse Teletrade barcode decal doesn't match the coin.

Funny the 1889-CC sold for $2425 and is now relisted with a starting bid of $2495. Same coin. The seller is trying to pull a fast one here. He lists the coin for only 1 day (in my opinion) an attempt to sell it before ebay shuts down the auction. The bidder is most likely the seller himself or a shill.

    Report relisted item.

    The
    $10 Indian
    sold for $875.

Did the seller turn the coin sideways to hide the fact it looks fake? Also the blurry pic - have you emailed the buyer he got a fake coin? The auction looks nuts, who would bid on it. One would have to copy the photo and then turn it right side up to be able to even see it decently. What kind seller inserts photos turned sideways difficult to evaluate or blurry - one trying to pull a fast one.

One thing that concerns me are well done counterfeit holders sellers can insert problem or overgraded coins in. The coins are real, but problem or overgraded and the holders are fake.

This is why it is important to be able to grade coins and look at them under magnification in 100 watt light.

This so much looks like it is a listing for something stolen I am surprised anyone would bid on it.
