Is it a bad idea to list an eBay auction that will end on Mother's Day?!?!

So whenever you list items for sale on eBay, you have to really look at what day the auction ends. If there is a major holiday, (Like listing items to end on New Year's Eve) I would imagine you are going to get hit with a below par final auction price! Maybe this is a good time to go on a shopping spree??

<< <i>If I'm not mistaken, a large number of people on the Forum went scavenger hunting on eBay during Superbowl Sunday. It's only natural that less people would be online, much less on eBay, during a holiday for which they'd prob have to spend some of their disposable income and attend to family matters. >>
There is merit to this , i always find multiple bargains if not downright giveaways on days like superbowl sunday , xmas day , any big holiday or sports event. If theres a reason to suspect people will be doing something else its a good time to go shopping , thanksgiving is about the best , the 4th is good too.

Fully agree. Granted, it takes away from 'partaking in the festivities', as most are partaking and not surfing/cruising ebay, or TT for that matter (affects certain Heritage auctions I'd imagine, also). It gives you a lot more 'breathing room' on the BIG holidays, on SuperBowl Sunday, certain March Madness games, ANY game 7, especially a championship game (hockey, baseball, hoops), but you can sneak right in a lot of times, but ya gotta remember one thing...... bidders who use sniping programs, and they'll get you sometimes (I hate those bidders who can get bids in with 2 seconds left with a sniping program).
But, overall, yeah, mahor holidays, special events, sporting events can have an affect, and it can be a good time for buyers. But, Mothers Day (and holidays like it.....kinda the 'minor holidays') , I'd be more inclined to think it's not one where it would prevent/keep ebay viewers/bidders from 'doing their thing' as normal, at least for prime-time endings. Early afternoon, I'd think it could affect total ebayers on, but after early eve and on should be biz as normal on the bay...IMO.
Great question, thanks for asking it!!

<< <i>Only if it's a mother that your listing. Probably a better idea would be auctioning the mother-in-law ?

Waking up, drinking my coffee and I just read this! Haha, priceless!
In regards to Mother's Day and Father's Day, I think those festivities are safely loooooong completed by 9PM. LOL

Oops, advice was for selling, not buying
<< <i>Whenever people consume more alcohol...they pay more money for things. Tuesday is a buy day for me and Thursday is a sell day. Weekends are so so and late Sunday night works to. Late night (midnight PST 3am EST) works well to, as east coasters put there max bid in before bedtime and the drunken clowns on the west coast max it out while still high. Of course I sell more collectible toys more so than coins, but this advice has worked well with both. Good luck either way

TRUE THAT!
I finally had to cut myself off from buying ANYTHING after a couple of beers. Last time it happened, I wandered into the Apple store and walked out with a brand new 27" iMac and an iPad mini.

Sorry guys, I can only speak for myself, born and raised in Northern Cali and now almost 15 years in sunny San Diego Cali... Hope I didn't offend any East Coasters or Mid-Westerners, as I would only assume they have their fair share of Drunken Clowns just as we do here in the Wild Wild West...they just happen to go to bed earlier than us... in REAL time
