I'm not sure what to recommend buying today, as I haven't researched the specs recently. What I'd recommend doing is going to a store that sells a few in the price range you're looking at, pull a dime out of your pocket, and try to take a decent picture of it in the store. Some cameras are good with focusing close, some aren't. You will have plenty of megapixels, so you don't have to worry too much about filling the viewfinder with the coin the gold buffalo you posted is 500x500, while a 12 MP camera about is 4000x3000. If you can comfortably get a picture of the dime such that the diameter is 1/4 the vertical size of the viewfinder, keeping in mind you will need to be able to light the coin, then that camera should work fine. Stick with your major brands when comparing, and get one where you can set the white balance and you have a self-timer.
