Beware of bogus ebay second chance offer emails
I got one today on a coin that I figured I was the underbidder on but in fact was the 2nd underbidder on.
When I looked closer at the email it gave the email address for the seller as jrengineer70@gmail.com and directed me to contact them.
Ebay would never give you a sellers email address.

Ditto. I got mine on Sunday from the same email address. I was the 2nd underbidder.
The first thing I do when I get something purportedly from Ebay is log into my account and check the messages. If it (the email) isn't there, it's fake.

ebay would have some lame excuse for it.

That is a very good question. What was everyone bidding on that got them the "Second Chance" offer? In my case, it was an 1872 CC Seated Liberty dollar...

Already got a response from eBay regarding the spoof. They are acting on it.
