I'm not a big seller but think it's out of hand. When they hit 15%? I'm gone. And they will hit 15%.
<< <i>You need to put the option of on the fence in there! >>
And/or "just show me the results."
The 150 free listings will offset a wee bit but won't have much influence.
It's sad when these changes take place and their is no input sought from the industry on the impact. With margins at best retailing coins in the 15%-17%, range maybe up to 20% if one is lucky on a good buy, eBay takes a fair bit more then half the profit. The new FV pricing structure hurts a significant price point range in our business and I suspect will result in a drop in eBay business over time.

<< <i>I will continue my eBay store. But the FV fee change will influence what I put up on eBay and how I need to adjust prices, especially for anything over about $300. The break even point is $250 then it costs more above that until the flat $250 kicks in at $10,375. So anything between $250-$10,375 will need to be looked at and likely have a higher price, thus cost to sell to a buyer.

I couldn't have said that any better! PS I am not Arnie!
I currently try to keep 1000 listings on ebay and had intentions of eventually listing everything I have in the rotation of my listings...alias...several thousand listings. That idea just went down the drain! My biggest gripe with ebay from day 1 in 1998 has been listing fees!

With the store don't you hit $250 for a final value at $3575?
For me most of my items listed are priced less than $250 so most of my FVF's will go down and the free listings are worth double what the basic store cost per month on the year plan.

If the items are low-dollar, I just spend them, declare a loss and then write them off against any gains. In the long run, it's a savings. You simply can't sell a roll of cents or nickels or dimes or quarters on ebay and make it worth doing.
If you don't buy tracking, you risk getting scammed over $3.00 plus a neg on feedback. Who needs the grief?
I knew it would happen.
<< <i>Considering that a seller has to pay for shipping, and insurance, and tracking, and packaging materials, and labor, and time, and gasoline for trips to the Post Office - all this enters into my decisions whether or not to go ahead with any selling.

Only time I go to the post office is if has to go express or registered. And it cost all of $1.69 for any package up to three ounces and it has tracking. And the counter clerks really don't like it when I give them slabs to pay for something.
What does? How are you sending it?
A roll of zincolns weighs more than 4 oz. A roll of clad quarters weighs 8 oz. You can't just stick that stuff into an envelope.

I stopped selling on the Bay in any quanity a long time back and now it's just a few things for a friend or
two if they ask. I can't see this causing sellers a problem but if eBay ever decides to charge a buy's fee like
the other web sites then it will be a problem for me as a buyer.
i have quite a lot more items to list on the bay and am looking forward to finding the time to do so
.

First class package works for anything up to 13 ounces.
I stopped selling their (11) months ago and could not be happier. The first month was a little tough and then it got very easy to not post coins there. I am sure I will offer a coin or two there again (maybe even right before or after the 1 year anniversary) but, "getting off ebay" can be done. And, I really enjoy being out of town now and not having to worry about shipping an item within 24 hours of its purchase ... man was that tough to deal with ebay when you had to leave town for a week or so.

My average sale is around $500 and the fee change will be an extra $2 or so per item. So not a huge deal and probably made up for in part by being able to list a bunch of free fixed price listings each month. On the coins that are in the mid-4 figures, the fees are going up $100 or more in some cases, but that just means I will not take as low as an offer on those as I could take today if the sale is made via eBay.
Still worth selling on eBay... where else can I get access to that many buyers for such little cost???

that is all that needs to be said.
.
no better place to sell the stuff I currently list there. Fee increase will just be absorbed in cost of doing business
anything good or expensive I have been carrying to the large r shows anyway.

You might wish to edit your sig line to reflect your disconnect from eBayness! Just sayin.
<< <i>You can get it in store or at the website. Since nobody knows my number, I use ebay ...just like they use me. >>
Surprised they let you put your phone number in your listing.

I'm with DennisH... Though not because of fees... That said, it's fees that will probably keep me away.
I see a raise in the BST boards here

I've used a ph # or website search many times to negotiate a better price for off eBay transactions. Last year a major dealer knocked $500 off his BIN price for a cash sale off eBay ($3400 BIN to $2900 cash).
@t and I avoid them at all costs.,

I have been selling there about 15 years. When it first came out it was a super retail venue, heck anything with a pic sold.
Its been a good retail venue but nothing really beats the excitement of the show circuit and all the deals that walkup. Doing both provides me a great synergy.
Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.
I worked hard and sold lots of stuff to get that discount which helped with fees i thought were high then
but atleast that offset the fees. Sorry for the rant
First let me say i have no affiliation with nor do i have an account with them.
But down in the card section of this forum in their BST thread there's a new site they say is 100% free to list
and no seller fees. don't remmember the whole thread title but "alternative to ebay" is mentioned
They also have a site that sells coins.
So I think if that site were to take off ebay would be a distant memory.
