    Out here in Washington state, a pack of Newports or Marlboro runs about $9.49. These people smoke, drive fancy cars, but life in rent assisted homes and don't have money for when they "retire".

    My dad owns a service station and tried this the middle/end of last year as kind of an attention drawer. I made up some big neon-colored poster boards and taped them to the pumps. His price was 20¢/gallon.

    Had lots of buzz and small-town talk but only 1 taker with 3 gallons of gas in exchange for 6 silver dimes. This was when gas was in the $3.80-ish range.

    Had lots of folks bringing pre-1964 Nickels to cash in big even though it was posted "Pre-1964 Half Dollars, Quarters, or Dimes".

    And yes, WE spelled "Dollars" correctly unlike the posters in the OP. image

    smokes here in connecticut are about $8.50 a pack now. im glad i quit when i did.
