Please indulge me one more time by helping with another KM proof set value?

1970 British 8-coin proof set. The final predecimal issues. With that nifty little squarish medal in the set. KM# PS26.

My 2009 Krause DVD says $24.00. My swap pardner says catalog is $38.00.

We've already established that he's using a newer Krause catalog than I am.

Really, it's all academic at this point, because I accepted the trade as part of a larger lot. (For Operation Paperclip, over on the Swap forum).

For simplicity's sake, we figured the 1970 Brit set at $25.00 for swap value, but I need to have a current catalog value for the "delcared value" in the Paperclip game, is all.

Last time I remember buying one of these, it was for only 10 bucks or so. But it's been a few years.

I know these are relatively common but I've always thought they were pretty nice sets.

    Holy cow! image

It seems I've been universally behind the times with my estimations on proof sets! I did a consignment a while back and was absolutely flabbergasted at what some Russian sets went for on eBay. No wonder this Aussie set I previously posted and the Brit set here are also surprisingly higher (even if only in catalog price).

    Thanks again.

    Ouch. imageimage

But then again, if they'd put free shipping on it instead of six bucks, it might have done a little better.

As it is, considering what I've bought these for in the past, and the shipping charge, I'd say that auction win was a really good purchase for somebody, but maybe not quite as big a rip as it looks.
