Vegas?

I'm still new to Vegas, but now that I've settled in... I'm looking for coin shops/clubs/shows in the area. Is there a weekly/biweekly regional show that goes on? Any cool places to check out? Just thought I'd ask!
Regards,
Dolan

Not familiar with that area but perhaps this could help.
Certainly someone at these shows would have more info on regular local weekly/monthly shows.

Come to the PCGS event next week in Vegas. That should be a "cool" place to check out including the auction taking place there.

I will be there towards the end of the event if anyone is going from the boards.

Well one cool place to check out would be the home site of Pawnstars. I believe they sell a coin of their own manufacture that says something like "In the Old Man we Trust."

Sahara coins is a good place to go, although they tend to like their stuff a lot sometimes.

But if you know what to look for you might be able to find something more realistically priced.

    Nice guys too!

There is also American Coin but they are more ebay sellers than anything else. Though on occasion you can find some decent collector material in their shop. They are on Sunset near the airport.

Welcome to Vegas - have fun!

    Hello,

I also live in Vegas; Sahara Coins is the only good coin shop here anymore that I have found. There use to be a ton of great shops back in the 80's, but they are all closed now to my knowledge. We use to have Frank's Coins, Nevada Coin Mart, Ken's Coins and a few others. Anybody know of any other good ones. American Coin Express is not too good in my opinion, not much selection, at least the shop on West Sahara.

This is true from what I know also.

Been there..done that. Not really worth the time or traffic. What I cannot understand is why these people would bring obviously very valuable items to a pawn shop. I can suppose some reasons, i.e. they need money fast, don't know what they have, don't know of or sell on eBay/Craigslist/other, don't know how to educate themselves on the item before offering to sell, etc. etc.

Made me sick watching these people going in there and getting swindled!

Thanks everyone for your response! I'll definitely check those shows out. Is the May 24th-26th show popular?

    Dolan...

I would suggest that you use the contact information for the particulars of the show, as they have been doing them for many years at the same location. Number of booths, attendance, etc could probably be had with a email or phone call.

Totally did. They said that there are usually 25-30 dealers, with 23-27 of them coin dealers. Sounds like a good time, but I think it'd be cooler if they could get more to show up. Perhaps I should help them advertise more image

That is a very small show, as are most coin shows in Las Vegas. The one at Palace Station that's coming up is probably the largest show of the year in the area.

There are perfectly logical reasons why not more dealers attend the shows put on by the May 24 promoter.

Why not? Not disagreeing, just very curious.
