Fair offer on the BIN / Make an Offer

I really like this coin and have made a couple of offers but can't get close I guess. What would be a fair offer
that y'all think would get this coin? Thanks

Looks like $900 would be my max offer which is an average price of what has sold recently

PCGS price guide says $825, seller is asking $2000. Have you messaged the seller to see why he's priced the coin higher than 67+ full retail? It would be interesting to hear what he says.

I went $825. on my last offer and didn't really want to bother the seller asking questions.
I wouldn't know what to ask them with a high price like that. Guess I'll keep looking.

You might try asking what his best price is. If he's serious about selling, he'll work with you.

IMO I would keep looking like you said as this coin is nothing special.

I'd spend a bit more and go with a 67pl, or spend a lot less and go with a 66pl. Either one is a better deal.

Given the sellers double markup and the fact that you're limited to three offers on eBay (I think), I'd just forget this one and find some other 79-S in MS67 to make an offer on.

The seller obviously has "cash in" dreams and your offers ain't affecting them.

Just remember to be professional when that Seller refuses your offer. The coin is way over-priced as listed, but perhaps they ( Seller) is in over their head on this coin. It happens.

I am having the same thought process about a fairly scarce coin on eBay.

Asking price $2500 in NGC 45
CoinFacts price $1000

Two most recent sales in any grade
5/12 in PCGS 55 $2300
1/13 in PCGS 58 $4800

It ultimately comes down to how much you want/need the coin and whether or not there is great likelihood of finding the coin in similar or acceptable condition at a better price in the foreseeable future. My coin example traded (publicly in auction) once in 2012 and once in 2013, so far.

An 1879-S in MS67 is hardly a unique coin. Find or wait for another.

Dec 23, 2009 is the original listing date. Perhaps it is a consignment coin or there is no real
interest in selling. Unless, of course, he finds a chump.

Agree, with 14 offers, he is not looking for a whole lot less than what its listed at. Go shop somewhere else.

Common date dollar that screams "MS66" to me. Pass! Go with one of the dealers recommended by forum members. They will find you something truly special at a better price.

I have a NGC 67 PQ I got 4 months ago and paid $600. for it so I want a PCGS MS 67 also. I mean I understand the fact
that 79 S Morgans are very common and since it is the only year and mint that made Morgans well atleast 1879 S Morgans

I want a PCGS. I will L@@K further for one and it will show up like all coins do, just hide and watch. Heck for the
money he wqants for that one I could add 3 or 4 more MS 64 DPL or DMPL to the three I have all ready. One day I will go
for a MS 68 but the lottery will have to help with that purchase.

That's quite a spread. Barely higher grade for more than double the price. I would probably be happier with the AU55 (course I haven't seen either coin.) Sounds like a case of AU58itis!

Greg Hansen has a gorgeous looking MS67 CAC PCGS 80-S on eBay right now and my guess is that he'd work with you on the price. But it's not a 79-S so you'd have to branch out!
