Sure, most of my auctions show as being edited, but that's from when I fix typos and stuff just after they're listed... well before the first bid comes in.
This particular coin is not for everyone. It is an expensive problem coin, so I warned people to stay away from it unless they know what they're doing. (It's a scarce-ish Caligula AE with bronze disease, in need of conservation.)
So apparently he read my full description, looked a bit closer, and got cold feet. Understandable if that's the case, but I rather resent the implication that I went changing the auction description after his bid.

His contention would show as a simple lie, since all edits are time stamped in the listing description. The edit times can be easily compared to the time of the original bid and retraction in eBay's bidder history. Why don't you report this bidder abuse to eBay ?

I did nothing of the kind. Look, this coin isn't for everyone, and it does require some thinking about, perhaps, but I stated all of that in my original description.
Please make sure you think BEFORE you bid, and don't go retracting your bids and say it's because I changed the description- when I didn't.
What you see is what you get, and any edits done to this listing (aside from this one) happened BEFORE anybody bid.
I'm not playing any games here. Please do me the courtesy of not playing any yourself. Thanks.

eBay only gives a couple choices of why a person wants to retract a bid, there should be more options other than 2. Possibly even allowing bidders some space to write exactly why -> similar to feedback
You say you did not change item description, but you did answer a question and post the answer going into more detail about your Georgian Corrosion disease - after their bid but before their bid retraction. This clarified some issues on whether you felt disease was still active. Do you not feel this is a change in description? maybe your intent is completely the same, but their interpretation probably changed.
I think you should be happy they cancelled their bid - Their high is only $4 higher than current with over 2 days left, will almost surely pass that level. The free shipping to Germany is a risk you take and added cost, especially since you offer a 14 day no questions asked refund.
I ask you, would you rather refund before shipping or after? to take that a step further, would you rather 'refund' before auction closes or after?
Since you are not a scammer, there is no reason not to be happy about their retracted bid, imo.

But no, I do not feel like I changed the description at all. Guess I should go back and read the answer I posted to that question.

It's a rather laborious process.
I gave it one try, but didn't feel like having to constantly monitor the coin for further changes and tinker with it any more.

Like cancer, it can recur, and needs the attention of a specialist. Cases vary in how terminal they are.
It so happens I'm fixin' to have to list another Caligula with BD soon. I bought it before the coin we're discussing.
All this time, and I've had only two ancients break out with bronze disease.
Both of them Caligulas. Wouldn't you know, that coin cancer seems to like scarcer, more expensive emperors.
I call it The Curse of Caligula. Even 2,000 years later, his allegedly evil deeds are still working their bad mojo on his coins.
(Paranoid thought) I'm gonna go take the THIRD one outta the box now and check it for spots. So far so good, but... *shudder*
