Post any Trade Dollar from your collection or as many as you wish. Any condition, chopmarked or not. Here's my latest addition. I have been searching for a decent 74-CC for quite sometime and it was much harder to find than I expected.

    From what I have seen, the DDO's always have the strongest strike for the 77 Philadelphia's.

    What's especially cool is that you would have a hard time finding anything close to the eye appeal of these coins at a show. It's really tough with Trades!

    This is my latest newp, from centsles, in an third-world (NNC "AU55") holder.

    I liked it as a nice XF, details-wise, and the forums seemed to agree, in the recent poll thread.

    I have yet to see it in hand, so we're relying on this montage of the seller's pictures for the time being.

    I thought it was worth taking a chance on.

    I like yours in the OP better, though, and give honorable mention to tydye's, too.

    Both have more of the "CircCam" look I'm after for my VF-XF 19th century set.

    lkeigwin both your 77-S and 78-S are fantastic. I especially like the 78-S, lustrous and original but not overly crusty.

    Here's one that I've had for a few years that I feel is undergraded by at least 5 points. It's weakly struck obverse is common for the date and mintmark and looks to be AU-58, but is in an AU-50 holder.Sorry for the different sized pics.

    Yes, I really like that chopmark. I've searched and searched but have never found another Trade dollar with that particular chopmark. This coin was the first chopmarked Trade dollar I ever purchased. I think I got it for $75 on eBay. It's in a PCGS AU-58 holder. I have another 75-S chopmarked in PCGS MS-64, but I still keep this one in my Registry Set.

    Indeed a cool chopmark, and I've never seen one, either, but it doesn't look Asian to me. Looks very Western.

    Lordmarcoven: Yes, it is not your typical Chinese chopmark, but Asian merchants occasionally used western numerals, letters or symbols for chopmarks.

    Here's one I have shown before in another thread, one of my favorites. Repunched date, repunched mint mark, semi-prooflike with die polishing marks, CAC. Lots of goodness.

    Here's one that I have not shown here before that's an 1875-S/CC. It will likely end up in a genuine holder for the cut on the reverse,but still a decent example of the variety for the price I paid for it.( Just over $150 )

    Ok, I'll play. Here's one that hasn't surfaced publicly since the Eliasberg sale. This coin is famous enough for anyone who wants to research the coin on their own.

    My acquisition of this coin comes with a brief story. I was sitting inside the corporate office of the dealership (they don't have a store front) I think on a Saturday. The dealer pulls out a coin and says to me that I probably won't "understand" the coin. I said, well, what is it? The dealer hands me the coin, and I smile and reply with something like "how much, you <nasty word>, do you want for this?". Done deal (in the non-RKK way).

    That is an amazing coin and a great history. While not the rarest date in the absolute sense it turns scarce in UNC while absolutely impossible in gem. That looks very close to the gem level
