Will You Sell some coins and buy a Harley this Spring?

I've had two over the decades and keep wondering if it's "time" again. I hold one disc of metal in my hand and go "vroom vroom". Maybe a nice very simple and stock Sportster....not new, but not old either >>>>>>>>>>Ever have those thoughts???

I am considering selling some coins to buy high end Hobie Fishing Kayak for the spring fishing season in La Jolla.

Whatever makes you happy.

I bought my first fishing kayak by selling coins and that was one of the best decisions I have every made because of the fun and health benefits.

Also eating Halibut, White Sea Bass, and Lobsters that I catch is another great benefit.

I have to admit Harley's scare me. But they sure are shiny. And at idle they make fun "potato, potato, potato" sounds.

No, I've had cycles all my life and sold my last one 3 years ago and will probably never own another one.They are sure fun but at my age a spill would do me in. I love watching them go by on the highway though.

...I customized a '78 Dresser to an FLHS before they became popular. Black with oxblood red paint. Nice heavy bike a delight at 35 mph. I do miss it but I'd go lighter now. Just a basic black sporty. Hmmmmmm what should I sell?

I sold some coinage in 2010 to help get this... the license plate for the first car (Lunar Rover 001) driven on another world. The license plate is somewhere between a half dollar and a dollar in size, and made out of aluminum about the same thickness as a beer can.

I used to commute on a BMW R1100RS, in fact I hauled hundreds of thousands of $ worth of coins to the bank and various locations in the saddlebags. I had a Yamaha R1 that I enjoyed blasting up and down Mt Palomar on.

Then a lady ran a red light and took the front wheel off my BMW. Didn't ride much for a month and the knot between my shoulderblades went away. I've tried riding several times since then and every time I do I feel the knot coming back.

So to answer the OP question, I would definitely find the money somewhere to buy a bike if it didn't make my back sore. At least once a day I stop to look at a nice bike and wish.

I hear you. I rode for 16 years until I got wiped out. I do miss it though. They are such a blast.

I have almost gotten a bike numerous times but it always comes down to knowing my own limitations. After owning a half dozen performance cars before a wife and kids ruined my youth and freedom, I acknowledge that my need-for-speed would end up with more dire consequences on a bike. Some of my greatest hits (tickets) in cars were "128 in a construction zone limited 55although at 2am", "115 in a country 50" and "liable speed (roughly translated from German) for getting in multi-car an accident in excess of 160KMPH". When the say no speed limits on parts of the Autobahn they mean they are deregulated and if you exceed the recommended limit you are liable for what ever happens even if someone else is also at fault, my accident ended up my 3 different people at fault even though it was one clunker that spun out and took out 3 other cars.

Ya, I would die on a bike.

I have actually been considering the opposite. Selling my Harley to buy more coins. For the past couple years the dust has been getting a lot thicker on the bike than the coins.

I had motorcycles continuously from age 13 to 38 (the year my first child was born)

Haven't been on one since, though I still think about it occasionally, I'm more likely to sell some coins and buy some more concrete, sod, and trees this spring

I have collected coins since 1962' I bought a Harley in 2005.....I sold it in 2009. Now I'm back to the coins......I raced motocross when I was younger, and never could get used to the cement with the street bikes ......and the idiots in their steel cages that inhabit it.

I bought a Harley a couple of springs ago.. I always rode sport bikes until this bike. My wife loves riding on the bike so that's a bonus. My other hobby is restoring my 1966 VW Squareback. I am getting close to finishing. You can see the back of my Squareback in the picture.

i had a 1970 fastback in college and that little unassuming car was awesmoe.

earlier than that my parents had a notchback. but something was wrong with it electrically. they sold it, indicating to the buyer all of the problems, but the buyer was totally into the notchback. i think that notchback killed that dude as he died not long after. not because it crashed; because it would not run right.

That is lovely Skyman! I also sold off some stuff around the holidays to ease the cost of the Mauretania turbine blade I showed here. Makes me much happier - and I can hold it w/o plastic! ;D

I have sold coins to help pay for restoration of a classic Olds convertable we've got going though...
Sure is a fun ride when Summer hits!
I did HATE selling the coins though!!! My wife would have it no other way though in paying for the car fun........

Bikes are dangerous.
