Anyone working on an early dime book?

Hi Everyone, I mostly collect bust quarters but am interested in branching out a bit (mostly due to a lack of nice coins available). So I looked for a copy of Early United States Dimes, but to no avail. To my knowledge its the only decent guide to bust dime varieties, but it's been out of print for forever and seems to be about R-4 or so! Or maybe I'm wrong?

It looks like the dime collecting community is in dire need of something similar to what Steve Tomkins and Rory Rea did with their updated early quarters books. I remember hearing rumors about their imminent printing years before they actually came out. Any rumors on an updated dime guide? Or as a consolation prize, a reprinting of the Davis book?

There is rumor someone(s) is/are working on updating the Bust Dime book!

Will be a long work in progress!

Well, that's good to hear! I think these things should be tackled every 30 years or so, if only to update the census info. Given the usual length of time between "rumors of book" and "actual book" though, I'll probably buy the old reference in the meantime.

Someone was doing approved copies of the book, that's what mine is. I think it cost me $20 or so. Don't know if they are still available but I think it was through the JRCS organization.

Keep in mind those are not particularly high quality copies

Not at all, but they were much better than I expected. Not any worse than the old Browning book. There's enough to accurately identify, and thats all I need. Probably can't see subtle die cracks and such.

I'd be psyched to get an approved copy also.
I have the LM book which I think is outstanding, so I'd like to see its predecessor.
I'm not a serious book collector or dime collector, though, so the $300+ keeps me from buying an original copy.
